What Is Available at Lavender Farms in Oregon?
Great question! Thereโs so much to do at a lavender farm.

We were also thrilled to discover that many of these farms are hosting special events for the upcoming holiday season!
Tips For Shopping at Your Local Lavender Farms in Oregon
We love when customers come prepared for their purchase even if it is their first time at our farm. We prefer to think about the 3C’s when visiting a local farm.
What Should I Bring to a Local Lavender Farm in Oregon?
Comfortable Shoes
It may seem like an unexpected tip, but many of our local lavender farms have uneven terrain since theyโre “working farms.” While most areas are flat, there can be some uneven spots, so be sure to wear closed-toe shoes for comfort and safety. Please also avoid walking in restricted areas of the farm. For both your safety and to protect the lavender plants and animals, we recommend refraining from running or jumping around.

Coolers
If you are buying refrigerated or frozen items, please come prepared with a cooler. There is nothing worse than buying cold items at a local farm and not having a way to keep it cool during your drive home.
Cash
As Dave Ramsey often says, cash is king! Keep in mind that you’ll need a way to pay for your purchases at local lavender farms. Many farm stores are self-service, and cash is the simplest payment option since it avoids service fees for the farmer. Some farms also accept electronic payments like Venmo, Apple Pay, or Google Pay, while others may offer credit card machines.
Are Bees and Other Wildlife Present?
Yes, bees and other wildlife are commonly found at lavender farms in Oregon. Bees are drawn to the lavender but typically don’t bother visitors and tend to go about their business. You may also spot smaller wildlife like butterflies. However, if you have allergies to specific plants, animals, or seasonal allergens, it’s a good idea to come prepared. Be sure to follow the farmerโs instructions on how to interact with wildlife during your visit.

When Are The Best Times to Visit Local Lavender Farms in Oregon?
The best time to visit lavender farms in Oregon is during the summer harvest, typically from late June to August, depending on the growing zone. This is when fresh lavender bundles are available for purchase. Prices for some items may fluctuate based on the season and the growing conditions of that year, so it’s always a good idea to check with the farm for their specific hours and availability.

Canby, OR
Lavender Owl Farm is located in Canby, Oregon. This lavender farm in Oregon wouldn’t call themselves a lavender destination, though you are bound to find many lavender plants growing here. Lavender Owl Farm is a wedding destination with a few special surprises, such as a private disc golf course. How fun!
From their website: “Our 20-acre private piece of paradise is a labor of love in the business of love! Like a great marriage, we are a work in progress and always sowing seeds, tending plants, growing trees, and building things! Once a thriving tree nursery, the trees have matured over the last twenty or so years to the beautiful specimens they now are. We no longer remove them for sale, we just take care of them and allow others to enjoy their beauty. So, other than our one chicken, we are more garden estate than a farm!
While we are not technically a ‘Lavender Farm’ Lavender is Lesleyโs favorite plant, color, essential oil, and scent, so it is fitting that there should be lavender on the farm! We are constantly planting lavender throughout the property for displays, wedding decor, and our favorite pollinators! Lavender borders the wedding garden and like with our many tree specimens, there are lots of โbabiesโ always growing from cuttings propagated from โmotherโ plants that have been growing in Lesleyโs gardens for many years!”

Willamette Valley Lavender is our last farm in Canby, Oregon. This Oregon lavender farm is a family-owned and operated lavender farm located in the beautiful countryside of Canby, Oregon. Their ten and a half acre farm is in the heart of the Willamette Valley. They offer naturally grown plants and hand harvested English and French lavenders. They offer an ever expanding product line which includes lavender syrups, lavender extract, lavender eye pillows, and more.
From their website: “We, Mike and Sandra, are both public school teachers by day and hobby farmers on the weekends and during school breaks. Sandra is originally from Costa Rica and Mike is a native Oregonian. In 2005 we purchased our ten and a half acres, uncertain of what the use for the land would be. The only thing we knew for sure was that the farm location was beautiful and the space felt peaceful. The prior owners had horses and cattle, so the natural thing to do at the time was to grow hay.
Fifteen years into our โcountry livingโ COVID helped us decide how we could continue developing our plan. The lavender farm idea sparked during a picnic on our 20th wedding anniversary while visiting Wayward Winds Lavender farm in Newberg. It was then, surrounded by solitude, lavender and bees that we decided to jump in with both feet and take on this new adventure. In October 2020, we planted our test garden with 200 plants and 10 cultivars. This allowed us to see what would grow well in our micro climate and since then the farm has expanded to over 3,000 plants and more than 30 cultivars. We are excited by the continued development of our farm and look forward to offering our natural products to our community.”

Originally, we had hoped to create a โworkshopโ for a community of adults with developmental disabilities where they could help out and we could connect Whitney with friends. Shortly after developing this idea, we learned that the state was getting rid of โworkshopโ programs that supported this. Needless to say, we were sad to hear this news… We made the decision to go ahead and start our small, family lavender farm. With the help from family and friends, the process began!

We had no idea that shortly after this, we would be facing numerous hardshipsโdeath of family members, cancer and Whitney Hope getting an autoimmune disease called P.A.N.D.A.S. Our world was turned upside down! We pressed on and officially opened our farm to the public in 2015 for our first U-Pick. We LOVE sharing our beautiful and peaceful farm with you and hope you know that your support means the world to our family.”

Sunderland Acres/PDX Lavender Farm is located in Portland, Oregon. Ramona Kruegerโs Sunderland Acres Lavender Farm is a peaceful oasis nestled in the city. After moving to a 2.5-acre property and battling breast cancer, Ramona decided to grow lavender for its beauty, bee benefits, and healing properties. She planted her first 900 Hidcote lavender plants in 2017 and added 250 Grosso plants in 2018.

The name “Sunderland” comes from the original blueprints of her property. Before lavender farming, Ramona ran her own interior decorating business, which helped her envision future farm projects, like a small shop.
Ramona’s favorite lavender variety is Hidcote Blue, and she enjoys using lavender in culinary dishes. Her best farming tip is to take it one row at a time and not get overwhelmed. She works solo, with help from her two mini donkeys, Jack and Emily. In addition to lavender, she grows rosemary, plans a moonlight garden, and has a mini plum orchard for the birds and bees.
Her favorite lavender recipe? Lavender London Fog (find the recipe on her Facebook page).
