State Fair Lavender Lemonade: A Sweet Summer Treat Your Whole Family Will Love
I still remember the first time I tasted lavender lemonade. We were at the county fair with the kids—sticky fingers, dusty shoes, and tired little legs. I had just wrangled the toddler out of the goat barn and was feeling about two steps away from calling it a day.
Jump to RecipeThat’s when I spotted a little stand with hand-lettered signs: Lavender Lemonade – Freshly Made – Real Ingredients. I ordered one without much thought, hoping it would cool me down.

But oh my. One sip, and I stopped mid-step.
It was light and floral, with just enough tart lemon to wake me up and just enough sweet to make me smile. I handed it to my husband and said, You’ve got to try this. It tastes like summer in a cup.
From that day on, I was hooked. And once we got home, I knew I had to try making it myself—with ingredients I could trust and share with my kids.

What Makes Lavender Lemonade So Special?
That little cup of lavender lemonade took me by surprise. I didn’t expect something so simple to feel so calming, so refreshing. But the blend of sweet, tangy lemon with that gentle floral note… it was just perfect. It made me slow down. It made me breathe.
That’s something I’ve come to love about lavender lemonade—it’s more than just a drink. It’s an experience. A moment to pause, smile, and enjoy being right where you are.

Now, every summer, we make a big pitcher of it and sip it outside while the kids run barefoot through the grass. It’s become one of our favorite traditions—easy, wholesome, and made with love.
Kids adore it because it tastes like a treat. Grown-ups love it because it feels a little fancy without any effort. And for me, it’s a reminder that small, natural things can bring so much joy.
Choosing Ingredients You Can Feel Good About
When I first started making lavender lemonade at home, I knew I didn’t want artificial flavors or neon colors. I wanted real lemons, clean ingredients, and a recipe that fit into our toxin-free lifestyle.
That’s why I stick with fresh-squeezed lemon juice and natural sweeteners like raw honey or maple syrup. They taste better—and they support the wellness choices we make as a family.
You can find raw honey and maple syrup in our online farm store, too.

I also use culinary-grade dried lavender or organic fresh lavender when it’s in season. Not all lavender is meant to be eaten, so this is one spot where quality really matters. As a bonus, we have this in our Farm Store, too.

Bonus Tips
Make it fun for the kids: Let them squeeze the lemons or stir the pitcher. My littles love shaking the jar and making a state fair styled lemon shake-up! I’ll admit that it’s fun as an adult, too.
Optional frozen treat: Blend with ice for a homemade slushy. Add a splash of coconut water or berries for fun twists.
Make-ahead tip: Mix it all the night before a party or picnic and store in the fridge. The flavor gets even better by the next day.
Sprinkle some lavender buds on top for a beautiful look.
WARNING: DON’T make it in the sun as the lavender flavor becomes too powerful like you are eating soap. Yuck! Don’t say we didn’t warn you if you try it this way.
Fun Ways to Enjoy Lavender Lemonade with Your Family
There’s something sweet about making ordinary moments feel a little special. Lavender lemonade has helped us do just that. Here are a few ways we’ve made it part of our family rhythm:

- Backyard tea parties with dolls and stuffed animals (bonus: fewer spills with small cups!)
- Porch hangs with a good book and a cold glass while the baby naps nearby
- Front-yard lemonade stands where the kids sell cups to neighbors (lavender always sells out!)
- “State Fair at Home” days where we play cornhole, eat kettle corn, and sip this lemonade
- After-church refreshment on a slow Sunday—paired with something baked and shared
It’s a simple way to make memories and bring a little joy to your everyday.
