Several of the farms listed below offer u-pick options during the growing season, and many create one-of-a-kind lavender products perfect for your home. Tips For Shopping at Your Local Lavender Farms in New Hampshire

We love when customers come prepared for their purchase even if it is their first time at our farm. We prefer to think about the 3C’s when visiting a local farm.

What Should I Bring to a Local Lavender Farm in New Hampshire?

Comfortable Shoes

It might seem like an unusual suggestion, but many of our local lavender farms have uneven terrain since theyโ€™re “working farms.” While the ground is generally flat, it can be a bit uneven in spots. Be sure to wear closed-toe shoes for comfort and safety. Please also avoid walking in restricted areas on the farm. For your own safety, and to protect the lavender plants and animals, itโ€™s best to refrain from running or jumping around.

Coolers

If you are buying refrigerated or frozen items, please come prepared with a cooler. There is nothing worse than buying cold items at a local farm and not having a way to keep it cool during your drive home.

Cash

As Dave Ramsey would say, cash is king! Remember that you will need a way to buy your goods from your local lavender farms. Many local farm stores are self-service and cash is the simplest form of payment where the farmer doesn’t need to pay service fees for selling items. Some local farms use electronic payment methods such as Venmo, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. Other farms may have access to a credit card machine.

Are Bees and Other Wildlife Present?

Yes, bees and other wildlife are typically present at lavender farms in New Hampshire. Bees are attracted to the lavender, but they usually donโ€™t pose a problem and tend to leave visitors alone. Smaller wildlife, like butterflies, is also common. However, if you have allergies to certain plants, animals, or seasonal allergens, itโ€™s a good idea to come prepared. Be sure to follow the farmerโ€™s guidance on how to interact with wildlife during your visit.

When Are The Best Times to Visit Local Lavender Farms in New Hampshire?

The best time to visit lavender farms in New Hampshire is typically during the summer harvest, which usually runs from late June to August, depending on the growing zone. This is when youโ€™ll find fresh lavender bundles available for purchase. Keep in mind that prices for some items may vary depending on the season and the growing conditions of that particular year. Always check with the farm for their specific hours and availability.

Strafford

Blue Winds Farm is located in Strafford, New Hampshire. This lavender farm in New Hampshire is home to history. This farm was originally started in the late 1750’s before the United States originated and recently started growing lavender on the same property in 2021. This farm invites you to explore lavender through various events and activities. Stay tuned to their social media for all updates.

From their website: “Blue Winds Farm, 30 acres of field and forest over slow rolling hills, just a hop-skip-and-jump from Blue Job Mountain in Strafford, NH.

First documented settlement of the farm was by the Stanton family in the 1750โ€™s (Yes! Before United States was the United States), as in many old New England towns, you find the Stantonโ€™s and their kin are laid to rest on the land where they poured their blood, sweat and tears (and smiles too, surely). The property supported their generations until the 1920โ€™s, then onto Jones, Berry, Redmond, and Robidas families, until in 2021 when our story begins. As we were the lucky ones that the property chose as its next residents. There is something amazing, and connecting, to know the deep history of your home, and how many things that need to fall into place to have the opportunity to come to be a part of a place such as this.

The land was calling to us. To be more than just a still place. It called for life and to be worked and ground producing as it once did. So began our journey in farming. LAVENDER! Whatโ€™s more than to take a place with the most amazing energy, and top it off with the ultimate of calming plants. As our story continues to be written, we tend the land and plant the field. To date weโ€™ve over 1200 plants and four varieties in the ground, but weโ€™re not stopping there. With farm slated to open to the public in 2024, you will be sure to find so much more. Our wish is to share this special place, rich in land and history with all those who wish to experience it. After all, we are just stewards of this land, for as long as we are lucky to serve it.”

They offer an abundance of lavender goodies in their Farm Store where you are bound to find something that you enjoy.

From their website: “Welcome to Lavender Fields at Pumpkin Blossom Farm.  It’s been our dream to invite people to our very special property that has been the center of our family’s gatherings, special events and family weddings since 2007.  It is truly a magical place, with positive energy and it’s only been enhanced by the healing and calming qualities of lavender.

While first serving as a vacation retreat for our family, we rented the home to wonderful guests from 40 states and 7 different countries over the span of 9 years.  In 2016, when we finally made Warner our forever home, we knew we wanted to continue to share its beauty, improve upon its special features and create a calming and inviting respite for people to enjoy in the same way we’ve enjoyed it for years. We could envision people sitting in the field escaping the stresses, worries and burdens that life sometimes brings.

From the very first guests, to the very last of our inaugural season, we were overwhelmed by the outpouring of kindness, generosity, support and well wishes – the very essence of the lavender lifestyle in action. When we started this little project, it was about creating an experience for others, but we had no idea how much joy we’d get in return and for that, we thank you.
