What Is Available at Lavender Farms in Washington

What Should I Bring to a Local Lavender Farm in Washington?

Comfortable Shoes

This may seem like an odd idea, but many of our local lavender farms have uneven ground as they are “working farms” where the ground is relatively flat but may be uneven. You should come prepared with closed-toe shoes. Please don’t walk in areas that are not allowed at the farm. It is always best not to run or jump around the lavender plants or animals for your safety and the farm’s well-being.

Coolers

If you are buying refrigerated or frozen items, please come prepared with a cooler. There is nothing worse than buying cold items at a local farm and not having a way to keep it cool during your drive home.

Before you go further, check out our COMPLETE step-by-step Farm Stand Toolkit to launch and scale your farm stand for more income.

Cash

As Dave Ramsey would say, cash is king! Remember that you will need a way to buy your goods from your local lavender farms. Many local farm stores are self-service and cash is the simplest form of payment where the farmer doesn’t need to pay service fees for selling items. Some local farms use electronic payment methods such as Venmo, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. Other farms may have access to a credit card machine.

Are Bees and Other Wildlife Present?

When you visit a local lavender farm in Washington, please be aware that bees and other wildlife are likely present. Please follow the directions of the farmer for how you should address this, but we have found that bees and smaller wildlife like butterflies will typically leave you alone. Of course, if you have allergies to specific plants, animals, or seasonal allergens please come prepared.

From their website: “Growing up, I developed a deep love for dirtโ€”from gardening with my southern mother to building roads and dams with my brother in Connecticut. The smell of soil and its endless possibilities fascinated me. After years away working in corporate America, I returned to the land. Eastern Washingtonโ€™s dry climate is perfect for lavender, despite harsh winters.

We planted 300 lavender plants near a century-old milking shed my husband moved. He did it while I was out of town to keep me from worrying about a farmerโ€™s tragic accident.

My love for herbs blossomed from the combination of flowers and food. Herbs are resilient, easy to grow, and often perennials in zone 5b. We have the perfect spot for them and soon a greenhouse to kickstart growth. Stay tuned for updates!

The farm is named after my first horse, Anyday, a mix of Tennessee Walker and Arab. Heโ€™s strong, graceful, and always comes when calledโ€”just like the farm.”

2025 is our grand opening year so we have a lot more than the web site would elude too, itโ€™s about to be updated as we sell over 60 products, weโ€™re also a plant nursery, and we are fully mechanized lavender farm (Starr Lavender row crop harvester, Biesel large debudding machine, 2 trailer diesel engine distiller) and our field has 7,000 plants currently with 5,600 more coming during these next two seasons amongst the current 13 cultivars.
