What Should I Bring to a Local Lavender Farm in Delaware?

This may seem like an odd idea, but many of our local lavender farms have uneven ground as they are “working farms” where the ground is relatively flat but may be uneven. You should come prepared with closed-toe shoes. Please don’t walk in areas that are not allowed at the farm. It is always best not to run or jump around the lavender plants or animals for your safety and the farm’s well-being.

Coolers

If you are buying refrigerated or frozen items, please come prepared with a cooler. There is nothing worse than buying cold items at a local farm and not having a way to keep it cool during your drive home.

Cash

As Dave Ramsey would say, cash is king! Remember that you will need a way to buy your goods from your local lavender farms. Many local farm stores are self-service and cash is the simplest form of payment where the farmer doesn’t need to pay service fees for selling items. Clayton

Country Haven Farm is located in Clayton, Delaware. This Delaware lavender farm also raises USDA beef and sunflowers. Country Haven is an extension of The Mabrey Farm which is a fourth-generation family farm located in Clayton, Delaware.

In 2021, they decided to invest and start a new journey by adding the production of a specialized crop of Lavender on the farm. In addition to their beef and grain farming operation, they create beautiful and unique items from their lavender.

With six different cultivars of lavender on the farm, this Delaware lavender farm is ready to bring you amazing products and scents for your home.

Dagsboro

Reinke Farms was started in 2018 in Dagsboro, Delaware. What started as a small family endeavor with just 500 plants, is now harvesting around 6500 plants a season and growing. This lavender farm in Delaware began with a little curiosity and an idea and it quickly developed into a labor of love. All of their products are family-made with pride.

At Reinke Farms their premium lavender products are made from the Grosso lavender plant. The Grosso plants have one of the richest and most robust fragrances of all the lavender plants. It’s no wonder that their products smell just as good as they do on the stalks at the lavender farm.  No synthetic fragrances or chemicals are added to their distilling process. Harvey Haven is located near Middletown, Delaware and boasts over 4 acres of lavender plants. Located in Milford, Delaware, Abbotts and Oak Farm is an agrotourism adventure. Since settling in Delaware in 1988, this family-owned business has flourished as a hobby farm for over two decades, nurturing their passion for growing, teaching and crafting unique experiences.

They now have three active generations committed to intentional living in todayโ€™s fast-paced world.From dahlias, zinnias, sunflowers, and lavender, you will find many beautiful blooms on this Delaware lavender farm. They primarily grow Phenomenalโ„ข Lavender, renowned for its fragrance, striking purple blooms and exceptional resilience to harsh weather conditions, it is perfect for the humid summers and cold winters in Delaware. Its versatile uses in aromatherapy, culinary delights, and medicinal applications make it a favorite among gardeners and enthusiasts alike.

Packed with centuries of history (dating back to 1685!), Lavender Fields at Warrington Manor is located in charming Milton, Delaware. This lavender farm in Delaware is beautiful! The property has been home to grain and dairy farming to the current lavender fields and flower fields. This property has been growing lavender since 1994.

Millsboro

Located in Millsboro, Brittingham Farms is home to another beautiful lavender farm in Delaware. Brittingham Farms is a beautiful, working grain farm located West of Rt. 113 in Millsboro, Delaware offering visitors an undeniably unique farm experience. This farm was purchased in 1930 by Harold Mumford, and has been in the Mumford-Brittingham family since then. The Brittingham’s have been located in Millsboro and Southern Delaware since the Revolutionary War, and many of the ancestors are buried in the local Revolutionary War cemetery near the farm. This 350-acre grain farm may be small compared to other grain farms nearby, but they certainly make up for it in heart and soul.

When you visit you will get a genuine glimpse of what it takes to operate a farm.
