What Is Available at Lavender Farms in Tennessee?
Great question! Thereโs so much to do at a lavender farm.

We were also thrilled to discover that many of these farms are hosting special events for the upcoming holiday season!
Tips For Shopping at Your Local Lavender Farms in Tennessee
We love when customers come prepared for their purchase even if it is their first time at our farm. We prefer to think about the 3C’s when visiting a local farm.

What Should I Bring to a Local Lavender Farm in Tennessee?
Comfortable Shoes
It may seem like an unexpected tip, but many of our local lavender farms have uneven terrain since theyโre “working farms.” While most areas are flat, there can be some uneven spots, so be sure to wear closed-toe shoes for comfort and safety. Please also avoid walking in restricted areas of the farm. For both your safety and to protect the lavender plants and animals, we recommend refraining from running or jumping around.
Coolers
If you are buying refrigerated or frozen items, please come prepared with a cooler. There is nothing worse than buying cold items at a local farm and not having a way to keep it cool during your drive home.
Cash
As Dave Ramsey often says, cash is king! Keep in mind that you’ll need a way to pay for your purchases at local lavender farms. Many farm stores are self-service, and cash is the simplest payment option since it avoids service fees for the farmer. Some farms also accept electronic payments like Venmo, Apple Pay, or Google Pay, while others may offer credit card machines.
Are Bees and Other Wildlife Present?
Yes, bees and other wildlife are commonly found at lavender farms in Tennessee. Bees are drawn to the lavender but typically don’t bother visitors and tend to go about their business. You may also spot smaller wildlife like butterflies. However, if you have allergies to specific plants, animals, or seasonal allergens, it’s a good idea to come prepared. Be sure to follow the farmerโs instructions on how to interact with wildlife during your visit.

When Are The Best Times to Visit Local Lavender Farms in Tennessee?
The best time to visit lavender farms in Tennessee is during the summer harvest, typically from late June to August, depending on the growing zone. This is when fresh lavender bundles are available for purchase. Prices for some items may fluctuate based on the season and the growing conditions of that year, so it’s always a good idea to check with the farm for their specific hours and availability.

From their website: “My journey into lavender farming began in 2018 while researching ways to earn income from a rented farm. At the time, most resources focused on success stories in the northwest, and the revenue numbers were impressive. After months of research, I ordered hundreds of the new hybrid Phenomenal lavender plants, expecting successโonly to quickly realize there was little information available on growing lavender in the South, especially in middle Tennessee.
Determined, I embraced trial and error, with people from across the region reaching out for advice. Despite my complete lack of gardening experience, the new hybrid lavender, thriving despite the humidity, became a game changer. I began experimenting with soil formulas and soon founded TLx, “The Lavender Exchange,” to connect new lavender farmers and share my experiences.
This journey led me to consult for over 20 lavender farms, including large ones, and even have my plants at Loretta Lynnโs ranch. Now, Iโve purchased a farm in Joelton, where Iโm starting over, continuing to experiment, and establishing a new lavender nursery and fields. The farm remains by appointment only.”

With extra farmland not being used by the animals or crops, we were looking for some way to benefit the farm and community. The idea of adding lavender to the farm was born from a visit to a local festival featuring lavender.

We started with 100 plants in 2017 and have added over 400 more since then. When public events shut down in 2020, we decided to add lavender by-products. Dried lavender, soaps, sachets, candles, eye pillows, linen sprays and more are shipped throughout the country. In addition to the lavender, free range chickens and honeybees live on the farm providing honey with just a hint of lavender.
The farm also provides opportunities for photographers to bring clients for artistic portraits in the beautiful fields. We hope that farm visitors, groups, families, and others learn more about the benefits of small farms and lavender!”
